Stars and Skies Mysteries @ International Museum of Art & Science | McAllen | Texas | United States

Explore the night skies and current space-related events with the whole family at IMAS. Included in general admission.

Looking for some summer night fun? Start with IMAS popular Stars & Skies Parties as we explore the evening skies above Rio Grande Valley. IMAS Stars & Skies Parties encourage our community to learn about space science and technology through special activities and programs designed around night sky observations, current space events, and much more. This year IMAS will be hosting the Stars & Skies Parties on June 8th, July 6th, and August 3rd from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Everyone is invited to participate! The Starts & Skies Parties are included with general admission. This year IMAS will continue the tradition with special Science On a Sphere presentations, its popular Inside the Dome-Planetarium shows, and hands-on science experiments from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Join IMAS for the final part of the Stars & Skies Parties, stargazing outside on the IMAS front lawn from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

IMAS invites you to bring out your lawn chairs, telescope, or binoculars, so you can share your astronomy knowledge with others or use IMAS’ equipment as you observe under dark, star-filled skies. If you know nothing about astronomy, bring your curiosity!

Each party is a unique and new adventure! On June 8th, we will explore the planets as we will travel through the solar system, learn more about what makes our planets unique, discover the composition of Saturn’s rings and explore the storm on Jupiter! On July 6th, we will explore the ancient superheroes in the sky, learn more about some of the most famous constellations including Hercules, Orion, and more! You will also discover the ways ancient heroes inspire the famous superheroes of modern times. On August 3rd, join us as we explore the science behind the total eclipse occurring August 21st with exciting hands-on activities. Discover the different types of eclipses and what they look like here on the Earth.
