The Upper Valley Art League presents the opening reception for local sculptor Hondo’s exhibition “Flow of Energy.” Free and open to the public.
The Upper Valley Art League presents an exhibition of artwork by local sculptor “Hondo” in an exhibition titled “Flow of Energy.” It will open with a reception on Sat. July 8 from 7-9 p.m at the Kika de la Garza Fine Arts Center, 921 E. 12th St. in Mission.
Hondo has worked with a wide variety of materials such as styrofoam, stone, bronze, wood, scrap metal, iron rods and plaster. He renders these materials into abstract, animal and human forms.
He was awarded a BFA and an MFA in Studio Art 3D from the University of Texas Pan American in 2009 and 2014 respectively. While a student, Hondo received “Best of Show 3D Presidents Award” in the 35th Annual Student Juried Art Show, and First Place at the 5th Annual HESTEC Events Art Show at UTPA. Since graduating, Hondo has shown his artwork locally in a number of exhibitions.
The exhibition runs through Saturday, July 29, and is free and open to the public. The gallery is open Tue – Fri 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sat. 2 to 6 p.m.. Please call to confirm hours.
